I took a little field trip to Atlanta this week to see the Carolina Herrera exhibit at the SCAD museum of fashion and film (Savannah College of Art and Design). I have always loved her designs, they are so classy, elegant and timeless and that is reflected in they way she dresses too. This is illustrated in the portrait of her done in 2012 by David Downtown. So ICONIC!
The exhibit included multiple beautiful, elegant, and simple white blouses. Carolina’s signature look.
The exhibit has 99 of her stunning designs including those worn by Lucy Lu, Tina Fey, Renee Zellweger, Sophia Vergara, and even Lady GaGa. What I saw were dresses that were classic, elegant and designed to make a women feel beautiful. Not over done, but designed with gorgeous fabrics that included texture and subtle embellishments. So much like her personal style.
Not only was every gowns incredible it was an inspirational exhibit to find out that she did not start her design until she was 40. Yes, 40! A testament to all that you are never to old (and I don’t believe for a second that 40 is old) to follow your passion, or dream. Even her loving husband thought she would tire of it after 6 months. How wrong he was, she has been designing and growing her business for 30 years.
So, follow your heart, your passion your dream.
