Hi everyone. It’s already the second week of the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour.
If you’re coming from Positively Southern welcome!!! Thank you for coming over to see me. This week I want to share with you first my tabletop decor. I wanted the design to be for a Christmas Eve dinner. Small and intimate and to stay with my silver and gold theme in the formal area of our home. I already had the chargers that I purchased for Thanksgiving from World Market. Then I found the salad plates and wine goblets at Home Goods and I had my main theme.
Goblet, Salad Plate, Votives – Home Goods
I wanted to keep it simple so used white roses as a centerpiece with ivy from our yard at the base of the vase. I like keeping the centerpiece low so people are not looking through or around it. Then I added small Venetian glass votives to add candle light. For each person I got little boxes of chocolates from Rembrandts at the Bluff View Inn here in Chattanooga. These chocolates are such a treat, you have to try them one day.
Napkins – Pier One
I kept the buffet simple also. Here again I used magnolias and ivy. But for those who live in northern climates use clippings from your own backyard. ( I do miss those wonderful pine trees )
We have several nativity scenes in our home but this is my favorite. This was a gift from my grandmother. She originally gave me just the holy family when I graduated from college. It is carved out of olive wood from Bethlehem and she purchased it at the church Christmas bazaar in my home town. Every year she would give me another piece until it was complete. I cherish this and it makes Christmas for me.
To tie the look together with the antique art I have above it I add ribbons and greens.
The bar cart is stocked and ready and I have to tell you I love the swizzle sticks I found this year.
They are going to be used in our traditional holiday Tom and Jerry’s drinks this year and are just fun.
I used wreaths in several places around the house.
I layered two wreaths for this one and then used gorgeous ribbon from the Paper Mart to hang it and make a bow.
This is the wreath for the front door. It compliments the style of the house here in Chattanooga since we live in a very wooded area up on the ridge top.
Putting a wreath over a mirror can be unexpected. This boxwood wreath from Silk Plants Direct is perfect. I didn’t want to take away the beauty of it so I just used a simple ribbon to hang it. The ribbon is again Paper Mart and is perfect for this wreath and so easy to work with. Perfect bows every time!!
Just a few decorations for the master bedroom. Another nativity and wreaths in the windows.
I hope that this inspires you to get decorating you home for the holidays. Or if it is to maybe add another wreath or glitter to another part of your home.
The next stop on the tour is My Life Well Loved.
