As I mentioned in my first blog post I got married to a handsome, smart, kind and wonderful man, Mike.
Funny how life takes you to places you would never imagine. Mike and I both are from the same small town in South Dakota, we grew up on farms and went to the same small high school. He was a year ahead of me and we only had one class together, but I did have a crush on him back then. (He was one of the cutest guys in the whole school.)We both went to the same college but never really ran into each other. He ended up living on both coasts in the United States and wounded up moving to Cape Town, South Africa for a career and got married there. That was really the last that I had heard anything about him. I in the meantime got married too. Moved to New Orleans, then Dallas, and then Atlanta for my ex-husbands career. It was almost three years after my divorce, that my hometown held an all school reunion. At that time Classmates.com was popular and so many of us from the hometown starting checking to see where people ended up living. It was on there that Mike contacted me to say he was in Chattanooga and how in the world did I end up in Atlanta. We emailed back a forth a couple of times and said perhaps we could catch up at the reunion. He decided not to come and I just left it at that. I ended up moving back to Dallas for a job and never really thought about him again until two years later when I moved back to Atlanta and just sent him a note to say “hey, I’m back in this area if you would like to have dinner sometime and catch up.” He called that night and made a date for Saturday. What an impression he made. Just as handsome as ever, and he brought me a bouquet of flower in our school colors along with my favorite wine, Silver Oak! Never in a million years did I every imagine that this man would come into life and that we would get married one day when I was back in high school. The journey’s that we have in life can take us on so many different paths and I believe that even if we don’t always understand why. How do two farm kids from South Dakota end up in the South, and then to even find each other again??? That is Life!!! You just never know what’s around the next corner. So hang on and enjoy the ride!!!
